R4i Gold Card

Before the release of the R4i Gold by www.r4ids.com in August 2010, the R4i SDHC team had decided to launch something similar to the R4i Gold in December 2009. This decision was made after seeing the immense popularity of the R4i SDHC being challenged by the preparation of launching the original R4i Gold. This version that was launched prior to the original was done to advocate the continuance of the popularity among the users of R4i SDHC.

The R4i SDHC's version of R4i Gold has its very own official website. This website is www.r4i-gold.eu . Needless to say, that this version of the R4i Gold was not popular at the beginning. This version slowly picked up pace later, however. The same technology was used as the R4i SDHC. A combination of the similar techniques and the support staff of the R4i SDHC helped boost the popularity of the the R4i SDHC's version of R4i Gold. The UK based website, r4i.co.uk, also helped stimulate the popularity. It took charge of active promotion of the R4i Gold flashcart created by R4i SDHC. Despite all this promotion and the slow pick up towards the end, the R4i Gold 1.4 did not manage to create as great an impact as the later released R4i Gold.

The R4i Gold 1.4 did manage to be somewhat successful for the r4i-gold.eu website. It continued a plateau of success for as long as it did. In September 2010, this success came to an end. Nintendo released yet another firmware after the August release of another firmware. This Nintendo firmware was yet another firmware of 1.4.1 and 1.4.2 version. This blocked all other popular flashcarts in the market. The R4i Gold and the R4i SDHC 1.4 lost all their buyers with the release of this Nintendo firmware version.

There were a few DSi firmwares that remained absolutely unaffected with the release of the Nintendo firmware. The DSi firmware 1.4.1: EZ Flash was doing quite well for itself. The Hyper R4i and Supercard DSTWO also seemed to enjoy success among buyers. The R4i Gold, launched in August 2010, was one of the most popular flashcart versions ever produced. The launch was innovative and left an impact that lasted quite long. It had also embraced various features of previous flashcarts and all of them were rolled into this one flashcart. The update built-in system was also a feature that made it popular. It had paved the way for all other teams to launch a corresponding fix to their firmwares. The R4i Gold continues to be a landmark product not just for the uniqueness of its launch but also because it offered innumerable features for a modest cost. The Nintendo firmware of Septembler 2010 cannot boast of the same quality that the R4i Gold had offered through out its span of popularity.
